§ Every year the City of Tigard presents Tree Stewardship Awards to individuals, businesses, or organizations who contribute to our city’s beautiful urban forest or a broader community understanding of the proper care and benefit of trees. Ø Tree Care Workshop - Introduction to Ornamental Tree Pruning

§ Wednesday, April 7, at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, from 2-3:30 p.m. in the Library Community Room - Arborist Phil Hickey, an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist and an ASCA Registered Consulting Arborist with over 15 years of experience, will cover the basics of pruning ornamental trees, the different types of pruning techniques, how to make a proper pruning cut, and knowing how to prune select branches for good canopy structure and form. The class will also cover the do's and don'ts of ornamental pruning and knowing when it's best to hire a professional for the job.

§ Saturday, April 17, 2010, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. meet in the parking lot at the elementary school. This invasive non-native plant species must be removed to assure that newly installed native plants will thrive free from competition.
