Tigard Seeks Feedback on Potential Station Areas

The city’s High Capacity Transit Land Use Plan has reached an important milestone for public input. Draft land use concepts are now ready for review. The public is invited to provide comments on seven areas, also known as potential station communities, at an open house on September 28, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Tigard Library.

Visit www.tigard-or.gov/hct for maps and more information about the plan. While all seven areas are likely to grow in the future, not all would receive a high capacity transit stop.

The seven potential station communities in Tigard are
• Pacific Hwy/Gaarde/McDonald Streets
• downtown Tigard
• Scholls Ferry/121st Avenue
• Summerfield area
• the Tigard Triangle
• Upper Bridgeport Village
• Washington Square
Tigard’s High Capacity Transit Land Use Plan is part of the regional process to plan for community investments in the Southwest Corridor that could include roads, bike lanes, sidewalks, access to nature and public transit. Metro and other project partners will also be on hand at the open house to provide information about the region’s Southwest Corridor Plan.

Previous project milestones include the identification of seven potential station communities in Tigard, and the development of a set of desired neighborhood types that are appropriate to the scale and expected growth in Tigard. Concepts for each area were developed by community members with support from project consultants and staff.
