Tigard Planning Commission Seeks a Resident to Serve

Whether you’re a seasoned volunteer, or just getting into public service, we welcome and thank you for your interest! To be considered for this appointment, we ask that you submit a Citizen Committee Interest Application. These applications are available in the City Hall lobby at 13125 SW Hall Boulevard or can be downloaded from the city’s website at:

Mission: The Planning Commission advises the City Council on general land use and transportation planning issues and long-range community plans. They apply Community Development Code regulations and also act as a hearings body for certain land use applications.

Time Commitment: This group meets in Tigard’s Town Hall the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month for approximately two hours. They attend periodic meetings with the City Council. At this time, the need is to fill an unexpired voting position that has an ending date of December 31, 2017. Should the person filling the position desire to continue on after that time, they would be eligible to apply for a full 4-year term. Tigard residency is required.

Mixed-Use Housing Project Gets Green Light

Efforts to construct new housing in downtown Tigard took a big step forward when the City Council (working in their role as the board of the City Center Development Agency (CCDA) approved a major development with a private developer.

This revitalization project with developers Capstone Greenlight LLC and Diamond Investment Group (DIG) Tigard LLC calls for the construction of 157 market-rate apartments and 2,000 square feet of commercial space on agency-owned land.  An open house to review the project’s design with the developers and architects will be held on April 22, 5:30-7:30 p.m., at the Public Works Building, at 8777 SW Burnham St.
